Hey I have a question about my birb and I was wondering if I could get some input from other bird/Tiel owners

My bird has become increasingly aggressive with everyone in our house as time goes on, and he never used to be like this at all. When I first got him his wings were clipped and he was very sweet and cuddly. But I've since let him grow them out so he can fly and he won't even let me pet him anymore. I've read online that sometimes that happens when you let them be flighted, but that clipping their wings can help make them nice again by making them more dependent on you.

How true is this? It breaks my heart that he seems to hate me now when I love him to pieces, and I'm thinking of letting the shop hes going to be boarded at soon clip his wings when I go on vacation.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can give me some input on this ono
I don't want to clip his wings if it won't do anything.

Hello!! Sorry to be getting back to your comment so late!!

To be honest, I've had three tiels over time (a brother and sister, and then another girl), and clipping their wings for all of them seemed to help! When birds have their wings long and can easily escape from the owner it gives them a sense of independence, and it's almost as if they realise they have an advantage over them! Once they realise they have that advantage, they can get a little bit of an attitude.. You can definitely give it a shot, and maybe if at all possible/if you aren't doing so already, spend some time with them! Tiels are really curious birds, so if you just talk to them often or let them stroll around the house with you on a shoulder or something, it'll keep them entertained while you take care of things! I let my boy sit on my shoulder while I do paperwork or clean the house or something, and if I can't let him stay on my shoulder (like if I'm cooking) I let him sit by the window (closed of course ;)) for him to squawk at the passerby people~

heh, sorry to go overboard on the response, but what you read online definitely is true, and I'd definitely go for it if you haven't already! Hope this all helps!~

Ahhh thanks so much
I just wasn't sure cause not everything is true online haha
Hes been boarded already but they dont do the trimming until we pick him up in a few days, so I'll have them clip him then

I spend as much time as he allows me to with him pfft which usually isnt very long before he flies off again

But thank you, it really helps!

Are you sure you have cockatiels and not parakeets?
If so, the supposed "green" one is female and is not green at all - she is grey.
